The symposium was opened by S.V. Pozyabin, Rector of the Academy, and N.V. Pimenov, Head of the Department of Immunology and Biotechnology. In his program report, Nikolai Vasilyevich Pimenov, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honorary Worker of the Russian Agro-Industrial Complex, a leading scientist in the field of applied bacteriophagy, highlighted the history and modernity of the issue, the achievements of the academy's scientists, and presented new promising tools of EVOLINK based on Bacteriophages for the treatment and prevention of salmonellosis, escherichiosis, listeriosis and other infections, for biodesinfection and selective decontamination.
The symposium was attended by representatives of various organizations from scientific institutes to agricultural enterprises and biopharmaceuticals. Among the guests were Alexey Ivanovich Laishevtsev, Head of the Laboratory for the Diagnosis and Control of Antibiotic Resistance of pathogens of the most clinically significant Infectious animal Diseases of the Federal State Budgetary Budgetary Institution of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Biological Sciences; Anna Vladimirovna Pavlova, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Pathanatomy and Forensic Veterinary Medicine of the Lugansk State Agrarian University named after K.E. Voroshilov, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor; Candidate of Biological Sciences, Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology of the Russian University of Medicine, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Eldar Rinatovich Zulkarneev; Head of Innovative Products for Small Pets at NPC MikroMir LLC Igor V. Mikhailov; General Director of ECO-MED LLC, Researcher at FSBI FNC RES RAS Taisiya Andreevna Kapustina, graduate students and students from Moscow, Voronezh, Lugansk, Iraq and Guinea.

The presentations were followed by a lively discussion, during which the symposium participants analyzed in detail the advantages and future possibilities of using bacteriophages as antimicrobial agents for the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections, especially caused by antibiotic-resistant strains. The participants highly appreciated the potential of using bacteriophages to maintain sanitary and hygienic standards and prevent the spread of infections through preventive and therapeutic treatment of surfaces, water and vegetation. Special attention was paid to the prospects for the development and implementation of phage preparations and modern monitoring systems that allow effective and safe biological control in the closed ecosystems of the future. The participants emphasized the importance of systematizing the accumulated experience and comprehensively considering the issues of immunology in bacteriophagy, as well as modern achievements of biotechnology used in the creation of phage preparations.
Concluding his work, Professor Nikolai Vasilyevich Pimenov of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted that during the symposium, modern approaches to the use of bacteriophages in the field of veterinary practice were analyzed and considered for the diagnosis and treatment of bacteriosis, selective decontamination of dangerous pathogens, biological disinfection and diagnosis of infectious diseases. Bacteriophages have gained new interest in the light of the growing antibiotic resistance and the declining therapeutic potential of antibacterial agents. The professor also stressed the high interest among students and young scientists in the stated topic of the symposium, and expressed confidence in the need for regular holding of such events.
