On March 23, 2023, interregional command and staff exercises of representatives of the state veterinary services on the organization and conduct of measures to localize and eliminate a conditional outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza were held on the territory of the Curonian Spit National Park's Visitor Center.
This is the first time such large-scale exercises have been conducted in the Kaliningrad region. They were attended by representatives of 10 territorial veterinary departments of the Northwestern Federal District, including the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration and higher educational institutions that train specialists in the field of veterinary medicine.
The purpose of the exercise is to work out interdepartmental interaction in the event of a conditional outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in accordance with the instructions of the Government of the Russian Federation on the implementation of the action plan to improve the veterinary safety system.
During the exercises, the order of organizational and liquidation measures in the outbreak of the disease was shown, the actions of various services and departments involved in the exercises, the work of machinery and equipment involved in the elimination of a conditional epizootic outbreak were demonstrated, the interaction of various structures and departments, including the state veterinary services of the subjects of the Northwestern Federal District, was worked out.
The action of the exercises was as close as possible to the real events in the elimination of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The event was attended by Maxim Uvaidov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Andrey Mukovnin, Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and Natalia Shevtsova, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kaliningrad Region, Minister of Agriculture.
